Soil and Water

Soil and Water

Eijkelkamp soil and water research equipment supplied in the UK — hand and gouge augers, soil samplers, monitoring well components, groundwater pumps and liquid samplers, water level loggers, sensors and probes, field meters and laboratory apparatus. Genuine Eijkelkamp equipment from the UK joint venture between Royal Eijkelkamp and Fraste.

Soil investigation and sampling

  • Hand Augers — the complete hand augering system: Edelman heads for clay, sand and coarse sand, riverside, stony soil, spiral, hogweed and root augers, handles, rods, sets and accessories.
  • Gouge Augers — Pürckhauer and one, two and multi-piece gouge sets for soft and hard soils, mineral gouges and stepwise sampling sets, for near-undisturbed profile description.
  • Soil Samplers — sampling rings and ring kits, liner samplers, split tube and profile samplers, coring apparatus, percussion drilling sets and peat samplers.
  • Soil — field measurement and description: penetrologgers and penetrometers, vane testers, infiltrometers, permeameters, tensiometers, colour book, sand ruler and sieves.
  • Soil Physical Research — laboratory apparatus for pF determination, shear and compression testing, permeability, particle size analysis and calcimetry.

Groundwater monitoring

  • Monitoring Wells — HDPE, PVC and pre-packed filter pipe, plain pipe, bentonite plugs and pellets, sand catchers, caps, casing and lockable covers.
  • Water Level Loggers — the Diver range including TD, Micro, Cera, CTD and Baro Divers, plus the suspension and anti-fouling hardware they need.
  • Data Read-Out Units — Diver read-out units, Diver-Mate, communication cables and the Prime PRO300 for downloading in the field.
  • Data Communication — GDT Prime PRO telemetry, GDT Multiple, antennas and the ROAK data viewer for getting data back without a site visit.
  • Groundwater Pumps — submersible, peristaltic, foot valve and engine driven pumps for purging and sampling, with flow through cells and in-line filtration.
  • Liquid Samplers — bailers, Van Dorn and Kemmerer samplers, watertrap, liquid layer samplers and Rhizon pore water samplers.

Water quality and surface water

  • Water — pH, EC, oxygen and turbidity meters, reflectometers, current meters and water level and interface meters.
  • Scuba Multiparameter Probes — the Scuba and Easy Scuba range for continuous multiparameter water quality monitoring.
  • Scuba Accessories — cables, adaptors, softcase, flow through cell and copper anti-fouling kit.
  • Sensors and Probes — HydraProbe soil sensors, Saturina, HydraGo, lysimeters and RBC flumes.
  • Sludge Samplers — Van Veen and Ekman grabs, free fall and Beeker corers, bed load transportmeter, Secchi disc and sediment level staves.

Supporting equipment

How the range fits together

Most programmes draw from several of these sections at once. A typical groundwater investigation uses augers to get to depth, monitoring well components to install and protect the well, a pump to purge and sample it, a level logger to record between visits and a read-out unit or telemetry to retrieve the data. A soil survey might use gouge augers to read the profile, sampling rings to recover undisturbed material, field meters to describe it on site and laboratory apparatus to test it afterwards.

That is why it is worth talking through the whole programme rather than ordering item by item. Decisions made early — well diameter, sensor type, logger deployment method — constrain what is possible later, and they are expensive to revisit once boreholes are installed.

Buying, hiring and support

Fast-moving items are available for direct ordering through the online shop. Specialist and laboratory equipment is quoted. We also offer soil and water equipment rental for short projects and occasional-use instruments, and UK-based service and support. For mechanised drilling see Drilling Rigs.

Soil and water equipment FAQs

Everything Eijkelkamp makes for investigating, sampling and monitoring soil and water outside of drilling rigs. That spans hand augers and soil samplers, gouge augers, monitoring well components, groundwater pumps and liquid samplers, water level loggers and read-out units, sensors and multiparameter probes, sludge and sediment samplers, field meters, and laboratory apparatus for soil physical research.
The online shop is a subset of this range - the fast-moving items held for direct online ordering. These pages cover the full catalogue including specialist and laboratory equipment that is specified and quoted rather than bought off the shelf. Where an item appears in both, ordering online is usually quicker.
Regularly. Eijkelkamp equipment is used widely in soil science, hydrology and environmental research, and much of the soil physical research apparatus here exists specifically for laboratory and academic work. We are happy to quote against grant applications and tender documents.
Yes, and it is worth doing before the programme is fixed. Tell us what you are measuring, at what depths, how often and to what standard, and we will put together an equipment list. Getting sensor type, well diameter and logger deployment right at the design stage avoids expensive rework once the boreholes are in.
We run a UK-based service and support operation covering Eijkelkamp equipment. Get in touch with the instrument and what you need doing and we will confirm what is possible and the turnaround.
Yes - we operate a soil and water equipment rental service alongside the drilling rig fleet. Hiring makes sense for short projects, for instruments used occasionally, and for trialling equipment before committing to a purchase.
Scale and method. Soil and Water covers hand-operated, portable and laboratory equipment, generally for shallow investigation and for monitoring. Drilling rigs are mechanised plant for boring deeper holes. Many projects use both - a rig to install the boreholes, then equipment from this range to monitor them.

Ordering and support

Everything here is genuine Eijkelkamp equipment supplied direct from our UK operation. Tell us what you are measuring, at what depths and to which standard, and we will put together a specification. Request a quote or get in touch.
