Our extensive range of Drilling Rigs
Our range of drilling rigs are designed to meet the demands of modern geotechnical, environmental, foundation, mineral exploration and ground investigation projects. From compact machines designed to work in confined spaces and inside buildings, to powerful crawler-mounted rigs capable of tackling difficult terrain and demanding formations, we can provide a drilling solution to suit a wide variety of applications.
- Conventional Rotary Rigs – Versatile rotary drilling platforms suited to a wide range of ground investigation and site characterisation work. These rigs handle everything from routine borehole drilling to more complex investigation programmes, offering the flexibility to switch between drilling methods and depths as ground conditions change across a site.
- Conventional Foundation Rigs – Purpose-built for piling and foundation drilling, engineered for stability and power on demanding construction sites. Designed to deliver the torque and pull-down force needed for deep foundation work, these rigs support contractors working on everything from residential developments to major infrastructure projects where foundation integrity is critical.
- Sonic Rigs – High-speed resonant drilling technology that delivers fast, continuous, high-quality core samples with minimal disturbance, ideal for environmental and geotechnical sampling. By using high-frequency vibration rather than conventional rotary cutting, sonic drilling advances quickly through mixed ground conditions, reduces the need for drilling fluids, and produces continuous, largely undisturbed core samples valued for accurate stratigraphic and contamination data.
- Mineral Exploration Rigs – Robust rigs designed for exploration drilling in challenging terrain, supporting mining and resource assessment projects. Built to operate reliably in remote and difficult-access locations, these rigs are engineered for the deep, precise coring required to assess ore bodies and mineral deposits, helping exploration teams gather the subsurface data needed to make informed investment decisions.
- CPT Rigs – Cone penetration testing systems that provide accurate, real-time subsurface data for geotechnical engineering and site assessment. By pushing an instrumented cone into the ground and measuring resistance as it advances, these systems generate continuous, high-resolution soil profiles without the need for extensive sample retrieval, making them a fast and cost-effective option for site investigation.
- Window Sampling Rigs – Compact, manoeuvrable rigs suited to shallow soil sampling in restricted-access or urban environments. Their small footprint makes them well suited to sites such as gardens, basements, and locations with limited vehicle access, where they can still deliver reliable, minimally disruptive soil samples for environmental and geotechnical assessment.
Every drilling rig can be configured and customised to meet the specific requirements of your project, with options for different drilling heads, pumps, winches, mast configurations, sampling systems and other specialist equipment. This means we can help you select a machine that is not only capable of completing the work but is configured around the way you operate.
The Fraste Multidrill ML, a powerful drilling rig perfectly suited for geotechnical drilling, geothermal drilling, core drilling, soil sampling and environmental monitoring. Various optional items are also available for maximum customisation to fit all your drilling needs and requirements.
At Eijkelkamp Fraste UK, we have a range of Water Level Loggers (also known as divers) by Van Essen from TD-Divers to Baro Divers, at various different depths. They are primarily used for continuous groundwater monitoring. We also offer Van Essen Data Read-Out Units for optimal use, as well as accessories to make monitoring easier.
Complete Soil & Water Investigation Solutions
Our expertise goes beyond drilling. We supply a comprehensive range of soil and water investigation, monitoring and analysis equipment for professionals working in environmental science, agriculture, groundwater studies and soil research.
- Water Level Monitoring – Water level loggers and data read-out units for accurate groundwater tracking. These instruments allow engineers and hydrologists to record water table fluctuations over time, whether for a single monitoring event or a long-term unattended logging programme, with read-out units providing quick, reliable access to stored data in the field.
- Augers and Samplers – Hand augers, gouge augers, and soil, liquid, and sludge samplers for field sampling across a range of ground conditions. This range covers manual sampling tools suited to different soil types and depths, alongside dedicated samplers for retrieving liquids and sludges from wells, tanks, and other water bodies, giving field teams the right tool for the specific material being sampled.
- Water Quality – Scuba multiparameter probes and accessories for in-situ water quality analysis. These probes allow simultaneous measurement of multiple water quality parameters directly in the field, reducing the need for separate lab analysis and giving investigators immediate, reliable data on conditions at the point of sampling.
- Monitoring – Sensors and probes, data communication equipment, and monitoring wells for ongoing environmental monitoring programmes. Together, this equipment supports the full monitoring chain, from permanent well installations through to the sensors that collect data and the communication systems that transmit it, enabling continuous, remote oversight of groundwater and environmental conditions.
- Pumps and Consumables – Groundwater pumps and associated consumables to support sampling and monitoring work. This includes pumps designed for extracting groundwater samples with minimal disturbance to water chemistry, along with the tubing, filters, and other consumable items needed to keep sampling programmes running smoothly.
- Lab Testing Equipment – Soil physical research tools and general lab equipment for post-fieldwork analysis. Once samples are collected, this equipment supports the detailed physical and analytical testing needed to characterise soil properties, complementing fieldwork with accurate laboratory-grade results.
- Field Measuring Equipment – Dedicated water and soil measurement instruments for use on site. These tools allow key parameters to be measured directly in the field, giving investigators immediate insight into ground and water conditions without waiting for samples to be sent away for analysis.
From collecting undisturbed soil samples and measuring groundwater levels to monitoring water quality and analysing soil properties, our equipment helps you obtain accurate, reliable data in the field and laboratory.
Tooling Supplies for your Drilling Rigs
Alongside our rig range, we stock a comprehensive selection of drilling and in-situ testing tooling designed to keep rigs running efficiently and support the full range of investigation methods our customers rely on, including:
- Dynamic Probes – In-situ testing equipment used to measure soil resistance by driving a cone into the ground with a hammer. Available in Heavy (DPH) and Super Heavy (DPSH) configurations, the system includes a 90° cone, extension rods, a torque wrench, and a driving device, giving engineers a continuous profile of ground strength during penetration for geotechnical and environmental site assessment.
- SPT (Standard Penetration Test) Equipment – Used to assess soil resistance by driving a split-barrel sampler into the ground at the base of a borehole, providing disturbed samples for soil identification alongside a standard measure of ground strength. In gravelly soils or soft rock where sampling isn’t practical, a solid cone (SPT(C)) variant can be used instead, supporting geotechnical investigation, environmental investigation, and foundation engineering work.
- Drilling and Coring Tooling – A range of drill bits, casings, rods, and other consumable and specialist tooling matched to specific ground conditions and drilling techniques across our rotary, sonic, and CPT rig ranges, helping keep drilling operations running smoothly from job to job.
- Subs & Adaptors – Connecting components that allow different threads, rods, and drill string elements to be coupled together securely, letting drilling teams adapt their tooling setup to different rigs, rod types, and borehole configurations without needing a separate string for every combination.
Having the right tooling on hand reduces downtime on site and helps ensure investigation work continues without delay, and our team can advise on the most suitable tooling for a given ground condition or project specification, helping customers avoid costly delays caused by mismatched or worn equipment.
PDC Core Bits feature synthetic diamond cutters on the crown, offering excellent durability, fast penetration, and high core recovery in soft to hard rock formations. Each cutter consists of a diamond layer fused under high pressure and temperature to a tungsten carbide base, allowing it to withstand high compressive and shear forces during drilling.
Equipment Hire for both Drilling Rigs, and Soil & Water
For projects that call for flexibility rather than long-term ownership, we offer both Drilling Rig hire and Soil & Water equipment hire. Our drilling rig hire fleet gives contractors and consultancies access to well-maintained, professionally serviced rigs without the capital outlay of a purchase, making it a practical option for short-term contracts, one-off projects, or periods of peak demand.
