Auger Accessories
Eijkelkamp soil auger accessories — coupling sleeves, bayonet adaptors, impact absorbing hammers, spatulas, peat probes and carrying bags. These are the small, inexpensive parts that decide whether a day of augering runs smoothly or turns into a fight with the kit. Genuine Eijkelkamp equipment supplied direct from our UK operation.
Joining and adapting the string
Most auger problems are connection problems. These parts keep the string tight, aligned and compatible with equipment you already own.
- Coupling Sleeve — joins components and holds them aligned under load. A worn sleeve transfers wear to the rods and heads, which cost considerably more to replace.
- Adaptor Conical Thread Connection To Bayonet — bridges the two Eijkelkamp connection systems so mixed-generation kit still works together.
Driving and striking
- Impact Absorbing Hammer — damps rebound when driving gouge augers, sample tubes and beathead handles. Protects the tool and the operator in a way an ordinary lump hammer does not.
Pair it with the auger handle with beathead. Striking a standard handle will deform it and loosen the couplings.
Handling the sample
- Bent Spatula — angled blade for clearing an auger head and trimming a sample face cleanly.
- Thumb Spatula — smaller and shaped for sub-sampling, cleaning sampling rings and close work.
Surveying and transport
- Peat Probe — sounds the depth to the base of a peat deposit or a firmer layer without recovering material, so you can site boreholes intelligently before you start augering.
- Carrying Bag for Field Equipment — keeps heads, rods, spatulas and adaptors together and accounted for. The cheapest insurance against leaving a component in a field.
Why the small parts matter
Accessories are the first thing cut from an order and the first thing missed on site. A seized coupling with no spare sleeve, a sample you cannot get off the blade because the spatula is in the van, or a bayonet head that will not mate with a threaded rod — each of these stops work as effectively as a broken auger, and each is solved by a part costing a fraction of the head. If you are assembling a kit, budget for the accessories at the same time rather than after the first frustrating site visit.
Building the rest of the set
Accessories support the main components: hand auger heads matched to your soil, handles, extension rods for depth, and gouge augers where you need an undisturbed core. Complete hand auger sets arrive with the main parts already matched.
